You will create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, provide a safe and welcoming environment, and engage children in activities that promote learning through play. Your role will also include building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring the well-being of each child, and supporting the overall goals of our program.

Hillsboro R-III School District is actively seeking Early Childhood Classroom Teachers to play a pivotal role in the social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children. You will create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, provide a safe and welcoming environment, and engage children in activities that promote learning through play. Your role will also include building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring the well-being of each child, and supporting the overall goals of our program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
- Establishes and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students when applicable.
- Employs special education strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory. Maintain attendance records.
- Recognizes and refers students encountering medical, physical, and/or psychological problems to District specialists as required.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with parents, involving them in their child’s education.
- Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor programs and teacher training programs.
- Confers with parents, administrators, diagnosticians, social workers, and other professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social development.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s) and/or volunteer(s).
- Contributes to decisions made by the district and building regarding budget, facilities, curriculum and personnel well-being.
- Maintains a physically and aesthetically attractive classroom setting and exercises proper care of district equipment.
- Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
- Provides basic supervision of paraprofessional(s) as assigned, during daily activities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited four-year college or university
- Missouri State Teaching Certificates in both Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education
- Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting is preferred.
- The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee is frequently required to feel, grasp, push, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crawl, perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement, and move up or down from/to sitting position.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Exposed to loud noise levels. Regularly exposed to varying inclement outdoor weather conditions while on recess duty.
- May be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
