The ideal candidate will have experience in residential and/or commercial carpentry and a strong desire to prepare high school students for careers in the skilled trades. The Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Carpentry Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year at the LEAD Center. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential and/or commercial carpentry and a strong desire to prepare high school students for careers in the skilled trades. This position involves teaching hands-on carpentry skills, safety procedures, blueprint reading, and industry best practices in a dynamic learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons in carpentry, covering topics such as framing, finishing, blueprint reading, and shop safety.
- Provide hands-on instruction in the use of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.
- Integrate industry standards and certifications into the curriculum (e.g., OSHA 10, NCCER, or other trade certifications).
- Assess student progress through practical demonstrations, projects, and written evaluations.
- Manage and maintain a safe and organized workshop environment.
- Foster industry partnerships for student internships, apprenticeships, and job placements.
- Stay current with trends and advancements in carpentry and workforce needs.
- Participate in professional development, school meetings, and student advisory programs as required.
Qualifications:
- Career Education Temporary Authorization Certificate (CTAC) Required. To qualify for a CTAC an individual must possess one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years; or
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years; or
- No degree and six thousand (6,000) hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years.
- Dependent on years of experience and level of education.
