Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in problem solving meetings with building teams
- Assist with the development and implementation of strategic interventions for students
- Assist with screening and progress monitoring practices to identify at risk students and to monitor the effectiveness of interventions
- Help with the creation of visual/augmentative communication systems for non-verbal children
- Provide on-going support of augmentative communication systems
- Provide functional observations of students in a variety of communicative settings
- Complete comprehensive speech and language evaluations using standard test batteries and multiple supplemental tests as appropriate
- Develop/present in-services for parents/teachers as specific needs dictate
- Participate in IEP meetings including:
- Reviews of existing information
- Eligibility meetings
- Interim IEP meetings
- Annual reviews
- Coordinate the completion of paperwork for the following meetings:
- Reviews of existing information
- Eligibility determinations
- Select portions of the IEP
- Provide a continuum of therapeutic service delivery models:
- Consultative
- Direct therapy in general/special education classrooms
- Direct therapy in therapeutic room
- Group/individual
- Preparation of speech and language evaluation reports which adequately synthesizes information and yields meaningful recommendations
- Review independent reports and incorporate the information to that which is currently existing
- Appropriate Illinois Certification
- Superior work habits and ethics
- Excellent communications skills – written and verbal
- Ability to work well with administration, faculty, students and parents
- Ability to perform duties as outlined
- Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 20-40 pounds on a regular repetitive basis.
- Must be able to speak, hear, see, write, walk, climb, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, turn, push, pull and reach (above head and below knees) on a regular and repetitive basis.
- Tasks require extensive use of hands including repetitive gripping, grasping, lifting and manipulation of equipment necessary to perform duties.
