JOB DESCRIPTION
 
JOB TITLE:   Academic Interventionist-Reading
 
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Academic Interventionist’s primary responsibility is working in small groups with students who have demonstrated challenges in the area of reading. The Academic Interventionist will also work closely with building administration, teachers and parents to support the instructional program for students.
 
REPORTS TO:   Principal                             
 
EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED:
 

• Demonstrates appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction.
• Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning.
• Designs and implements academic interventions using research-based methodology in Reading.
• Communications with school staff and parents regarding student progress.
• Differentiates instruction based on student assessments.
• Documents interventions and progress on each child.
• Assist teachers by providing training in the area of early literacy as needed.
• Works consistently with the school leadership team to guide and monitor the progress of each child.
• Utilizes district-wide assessment tools for evaluation and progress monitoring of student achievement.
• Assists with creating and implementing Reading Improvement Plans.
• Actively participates in the Student Support Team Review Committee.
• Serves as building liaison for Response to Intervention Team.
• Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in-group settings.
• Assess student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
